The family of U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Vernon Lee McCoshum have requested an
escort from the Patriot Guard Riders, from Adams Cremation in Anderson, Ca
to the Northern California Veterans Cemetery, in Igo, Ca.
Petty Officer McCoshum served in the Navy from 1960 to 1964 aboard the USS Mount Baker,
an ammunition ship. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal
and the Armed Forces Service Medal. He served in the Pacific off Vietnam and Japan.

US Marine Corps Veteran, Sgt., James Amos Beursken - Redding, CA
The family of US Marine Corps Sgt. James Amos Beursken has requested an
escort from the Patriot Guard Riders from Our Lady of Mercy Church
in Redding, Ca to the Redding Memorial Park on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
Sgt. Beursken served from 1953-1956 as a Diesel Mechanic.
He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal
and the USMC Good Conduct Medal.

to McDonalds Cemetery in Redding for direct burial.
Pvt. Koza served in the US Army from 1985 to 1987 as a Combat Engineer.
He served 1 yr 6 months abroad in Berlin, Germany.
He was awarded the Army Service Ribbon, Army of Occupation Medal,
Marksman Badge M-14, and Expert Marksman Grenade.

ASSIST Big Bike Weekend Volunteers - Redding, CA
Big Bike Weekend Oct 9 and 10th is holding a Police Motor Competition and is looking for volunteers to help with the Competition Judging. This consists of positioning at a portion of the course and looking for violations/errors. Fairly easy duty, should be quite entertaining as well. I'm told a t-shirt will be provided to you.
The competition is on Saturday Oct.10th at 0830 with volunteers reporting at 0700. Additionally, volunteers are optionally allowed to watch practice session Friday the 9th starting at 1430 hrs. so they can watch and see what the riders do and get an idea of their duties on Saturday. Again not that complicated. The location is at the main parking lot at the Redding Rodeo Grounds.
If you're interested let me know ASAP so I can forward your name and number to Ret. Sgt. Casey Bokavich.
This fun duty is not limited to PGR motorcycle riders, all volunteers are welcome.

Pvt. Mazet served from 1955-1957 at Fort Tilden, N.Y.
He received the Good Conduct Medal.
